About JJ Gormley
JJ Gormley, MS, C-IAYT, ERYT, has been a student of yoga since 1979 and has studied in many different traditions. She has a gift of integrating what she loves best from each teacher and tradition she’s studied, and what comes out is insightful, balanced, and open-minded instructions for all. JJ has found a way to share the gifts of many traditions and has an approach to teaching that is inclusive and non-judgmental. She teaches weekly asana (breath focused) classes, online philosophy and yoga therapy classes, runs teacher training and yoga therapy training programs (accredited by IAYT) in various locations. She enjoys her Holistic Healthcare practice using her Masters in Complementary and Alternative Medicine combined with her experience as a Yoga Therapist. When she’s not practicing or teaching yoga, she enjoys knitting, jewelry making, and walks with friends and dogs in the beautiful Virginia countryside.
Stretching Your Mind and Body
Mondays 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Level 1 Yoga
In this class, JJ guides students with alignment cues for better posture, core strength, and flexibility that builds from week-to-week over the course of the session. Each week brings a new focus, and handouts are included.
Tuesdays 10:15 - 11:15 a.m.
Yoga Therapy Class
JJ will guide students who may have issues or ailments with their body through particular movements to heal that area. Each week JJ will address issues for one or more students in the class. For example, lower back issues one week, shoulder pain the next. This class follows a separate schedule then the others:
Jan. 16 - Apr. 4 (8 weeks)
Does not meet Jan. 30-Feb. 13 nor Mar. 27 when JJ’s out of town.
Tuesdays 3:00 - 4:00 p.m.
In this class, JJ guides students with alignment cues for better posture, core strength, and flexibility all while sitting in a chair. Sometimes students comment on how excited they are to get such deep stretches while sitting.
Wednesdays 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Level 2 Yoga
In this class, JJ guides students with alignment cues for better posture, core strength, and flexibility that builds from week-to-week over the course of the session. Each week brings a new focus, and handouts are included. Prerequisite: Completion of Level 1 or JJ’s permission.

Cost of Classes
Classes are run by the session—one session per season (fall, winter, spring, and summer sessions). Sessions may be joined part way through and pro-rated for the remainder or at the single/drop-in $15/class rate. Drop-in & pro-rate are available anytime in the Chair Yoga or the Yoga Therapy Class, but only in the first three weeks of Level 1 or 2 (unless the student has previously studied yoga with JJ.) The Yoga Therapy Class operates under a different schedule then below—please inquire.
Tentative Schedule of Sessions
Winter 2018: Jan 15 - Apr 4 (12 weeks)
Spring 2018: Apr 16 - Jun 20 (10 weeks)
Summer 2018: Jul 9 - Sep 5 (8 weeks)
Fall 2018: Sep 17 - Dec 12 (12 weeks)
8-week sessions are $80
10-week sessions are $100
12-week sessions are $120
Make-Ups and Missed Classes
Once a student has registered for a session and has to miss a class, that class can be made up in any other appropriate class in the current sessions, or in the next session of classes. If a class needs to be canceled due to weather or any other reason, all attempts to find an appropriate substitute will be made, or the class may be refunded or credited to the next session.
